United we Stand, Divided we Fall

Much have been said about democracy and elections in this annus horribilis of 2016. The dictatorship of the ‘majority’ is obvious in countries on Europe’s periphery, including that formerly great nation where a foreign friend wrote below post:

Here in US, we are facing a similar dilemma. Strong forces aim to divide us, and I fear they have largely succeeded. Party affiliation no longer correlates with changeable socio-economic factors, but with our identities in the culture wars and the information ‘bubble’ or echo chamber we consult. Yet stepping out of this bubble is absolutely essential to understand our fellow citizens and to stand strong against the tide that threatens us all: totalitarianism and lies, bigotry and selfishness.

This is your chance to turn around this year for democracy, America! Vote on Tuesday, elect the most democratic and inclusive candidates and continue to support them and hold them accountable for their promises moving forward.

Still here? Do you really want my advice for US president? I trust you to have figured it out for yourself by now 🙂

May the best woman win
